Jaguars trade pass-rusher Fowler to Rams for 2 draft picks
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Dante Fowler is headed to an actual Super Bowl contender.
The slumping Jacksonville Jaguars traded the fourth-year pro and 2015 first-round pick to the undefeated Los Angeles Rams just before the NFL trading deadline Tuesday.
The move gives the Rams an even more formidable front, which already had Aaron Donald, Ndamukong Suh and Michael Brockers.
Jaguars implode in locker room after latest lopsided loss
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The doors opened briefly and closed a few seconds later, but the glimpse into Jacksonville's locker room told the story of the team's third consecutive loss.
Calais Campbell was holding back fellow defensive end Yannick Ngakoue, a carry-over from the screaming, shouting and finger pointing that ensued after a 20-7 loss to AFC South rival Houston (4-3) on Sunday.

Jenkins and Luvu were both docked Friday for roughing the passer, while Lee was fined for a horse-collar tackle in the Jets' 15-13 loss last Thursday.
Jaguars beat Vikings 14-10 in defense-dominated exhibition
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota and Jacksonville had the top two defenses in the NFL last season, a major reason why the Vikings and Jaguars reached their respective conference championship games.
Two joint practices and one exhibition game produced yet more evidence of the exceptional skill and sound scheme each team has on that side of the ball.
Jaguars coach believes Fowler, Ngakoue can coexist in 2018
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Jacksonville Jaguars coach Doug Marrone believes defensive ends Dante Fowler and Yannick Ngakoue can coexist in the same locker room, in the same meeting room and even in the same huddle.
They probably only have to do so for another five months.
Jaguars suspend Ramsey, Fowler for roles in practice fight
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars suspended All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey and defensive end Dante Fowler on Sunday for violating team rules and conduct unbecoming a Jaguars football player.
Neither one will make the trip to Minnesota on Tuesday for two days of joint practices and a preseason game. The teams play Saturday.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars declined to exercise the fifth-year option in defensive end Dante Fowler's rookie contract.
The decision could mean Fowler, the third overall pick in the 2015 draft who had eight sacks last year, will become a free agent in 2019.
Executive vice president Tom Coughlin says "we do like Dante and we feel that he's on the verge of having a great season. ... We want him to have a great season and earn a new long-term contract with us this year."
Jaguars use NFL draft to build for future, not this fall
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars used the NFL draft to build for the future, not necessarily this fall.
They used every pick on down-the-road starters instead of filling pressing needs.
It's a luxury rarely seen in Jacksonville, which made the AFC championship game in January after a decade of failure and futility. The Jags return 18 of 22 starters from a team that led the NFL in rushing and ranked second in total defense.
Jaguars’ Ngakoue, Bills’ Incognito clear air after remarks
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (AP) — Buffalo Bills guard Richie Incognito jogged off the practice field Wednesday, started signing autographs for kids and then declined all interview requests.
Incognito's version of what happened during a wild-card game at Jacksonville earlier this month remains unclear.
Jaguars’ Ngakoue trying to turn heads on AFC’s biggest stage
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Yannick Ngakoue has a knack for the strip-sack, an innate ability to knock balls out of the hands of quarterbacks.
The Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end has 11 forced fumbles in two seasons, including a momentum-turning one in a victory at Pittsburgh last week. Ngakoue led the NFL with six forced fumbles during the regular season to go along with 12 sacks, and could pose significant problems for the New England Patriots (14-3) in the AFC championship game Sunday.
Bills GM says Incognito comments may have been misunderstood
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Bills general manager Brandon Beane said there may have been a misunderstanding during an on-field exchange that led to Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Yannick Ngakoue accusing Buffalo guard Richie Incognito of using "weak racist slurs."
Ngakoue stands by tweet, says Incognito ‘knows what he said’
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Yannick Ngakoue says whatever Buffalo Bills guard Richie Incognito was trying to accomplish didn't work.
The Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end stood by his tweet accusing Incognito of using "weak racist slurs" during their playoff game, but the second-year pro declined Monday to provide more details about what was said.
Drew Brees threw for 376 yards and two touchdowns as the New Orleans Saints downed the Carolina Panthers 31-26 in yesterday's NFC wild-card playoff game. Ted Ginn had an 80-yard scoring reception to open the scoring late in the first quarter, putting New Orleans ahead to stay. Josh Hill added a nine-yard scoring reception, while Alvin Kamara and Zach Line added short TD runs.
Ngakoue says Incognito used “weak racist slurs” during game
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Yannick Ngakoue says Buffalo Bills guard Richie Incognito used "weak racist slurs" during their playoff game Sunday.
Ngakoue voiced his complaint on Twitter, calling out Incognito by his No. 64 jersey.
Ngakoue wrote: "Great win today! And 64, you goin have to come harder than some weak racist slurs. I'm proud of my African heritage, as are 70% of the other Black players in this league. #Iaintjonathanmartin!"

NEW YORK (AP) — Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Yannick Ngakoue has been fined $30,387 by the NFL for making physical contact with a game official during a loss to San Francisco last Sunday.

Jaguars’ Yannick Ngakoue on Pro Bowl voting: I was snubbed
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Yannick Ngakoue plans to release his frustration on the football field.

Bucs, Jags involved in 3 skirmishes during joint practice
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Jacksonville Jaguars had three skirmishes and several heated exchanges during a joint practice Tuesday.
Tempers flared, helmets flew and punches were thrown as the teams "worked together" for the second consecutive day in sweltering summer heat and humidity. The in-state teams play a preseason game Thursday night in Jacksonville.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars have traded fourth-year defensive end Chris Smith to the Cincinnati Bengals for a conditional pick in the 2018 NFL draft.
A fifth-round selection in 2014, Smith was behind Yannick Ngakoue and Dante Fowler on the depth chart and unlikely to play much in the final year of his contract.
The Jaguars previously traded their 2018 seventh-rounder to Miami for left tackle Branden Albert, so Tuesday's trade could help them regain a pick.
Lions hoping to extend Jacksonville’s takeaway drought
DETROIT (AP) — The Detroit Lions have taken good care of the ball this season, and now they're going up against a team that hasn't forced a turnover in a month and a half.
Matthew Stafford isn't letting his guard down.
"Turnovers are a funny thing in this league," the Detroit quarterback said. "Sometimes you don't have them for a while, sometimes they come in bunches."
The Jacksonville Jaguars are certainly hoping their turnover margin evens out a bit down the stretch.
