Clemson DT Jabril Robinson to transfer
CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — Clemson reserve defensive tackle Jabril Robinson is leaving the program for his final season.
Robinson announced his decision Monday on the team's Twitter feed. He said he's grateful for his development, both on and off the field, during his four years at Clemson, but felt he would have a better opportunity for playing time elsewhere.
Backup Clemson quarterback Tucker Israel to transfer
CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — Clemson is losing another backup quarterback with Tucker Israel's decision to leave the program.
Israel said on the team's Twitter feed Monday he will graduate from Clemson and then seek to play elsewhere. Earlier this month, reserve quarterback Zerrick Cooper also announced he was leaving the Tigers.
Israel is a 5-foot-11, 165-pound quarterback from Orlando, Florida who at Lake Nona High School surpassed Tim Tebow's Florida prep record with 56 passing touchdowns in a season.
CLEMSON — The quarterback room at Clemson just became a little less crowded as quarterback Zerrick Cooper announced Friday that he would be transferring out of the program.
In a statement released by the university via Twitter, Cooper stated:
"Thank you to Coach Swinney, the Clemson staff & the best fans in college football for an incredible two years. The memories & relationships I have built with my teammates will be truly unforgettable.

Dabo Swinney talks backup QB pecking order ahead of South Carolina game
CLEMSON — Each week, Dabo Swinney trusts quarterbacks coach Brandon Streeter with the pecking order when it comes to Zerrick Cooper and Hunter Johnson.
Streeter will make the call, Swinney will sign off on it and then when Clemson quarterback Kelly Bryant is out of the game, either Cooper or Johnson will take control.
Clemson vs. The Citadel: By the Numbers; The Good, The Bad, The Wacky; Player of the Game
By the Numbers
Death Valley record for Clemson’s senior class (2016 loss to Pittsburgh)
Total offense for the Citadel (308.6 rushing yards per game average coming in)
Clemson quarterbacks with touchdown passes (Kelly Bryant 3, Zerrick Cooper 1, Hunter Johnson 1)
Yards on a fourth-quarter Citadel pass from Jordan Black to Raleigh Webb.
Touchdowns in a season for Travis Etienne, breaking C.J. Spiller’s school freshman record (2006)
Zerrick Cooper over Hunter Johnson? Clemson coaches explain why Johnson did not take any snaps against Syracuse
CLEMSON — Kelly Bryant went down, Clemson needed a new quarterback plan and it was generally assumed the Tigers would strategize against Syracuse on Friday night the same way they have often times this year: rotate Zerrick Cooper and Hunter Johnson for the backup reps.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. — For the second game in a row, the second-ranked Clemson Tigers (6-1, 4-1 ACC) needed to turn to the freshman Zerrick Cooper after starting quarterback suffered a concussion with 59 seconds to play in the first half of Friday’s game against the Syracuse Orange (4-3, 2-1 ACC).
But unlike last week’s game, the Tigers were unable to overcome the loss of their quarterback as the Orange ended Clemson’s perfect season by a final score of 27-24.
Sapakoff: Ideal bye week timing after Clemson’s weak showing at Syracuse
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Clemson more than survived its surprising mid-November home loss to Pittsburgh last year. The Tigers instead of dismissing a fluky afternoon at Death Valley immediately addressed two problems: too many interceptions and too many shaky finishes.
The adjustments were critical in a national championship run.
Clemson has one more road task ahead before its bye week. A 20-plus point favorite when they play at Syracuse on Friday night, the Tigers are expected to enter their off week with a 7-0 record. Here are four factors to watch on Friday night:
CLEMSON -- The No. 2 Clemson Tigers (6-0, 4-0 ACC) celebrated homecoming with a 28-14 victory over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons (4-2, 1-2 ACC) in front of a sea of orange Saturday.
That celebration was slowed after starting quarterback Kelly Bryant was injured in the third quarter, which led to backup quarterback Zerrick Cooper entering the game. But it was third-string quarterback and true freshman Hunter Johnson who seized the moment.
Clemson Notes: Kelly Bryant injured in third quarter against Wake Forest
CLEMSON — Death Valley got quieter than usual in the third quarter of Clemson’s 28-14 victory over Wake Forest, as 80-plus thousand fans watched their quarterback limp off the field with appeared to be either a leg or an ankle injury.
Clemson QB Bryant out of the game with injury
CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — Clemson quarterback Kelly Bryant came out of the game after Travis Etienne's 1-yard, third-quarter touchdown run for the second-ranked Tigers against Wake Forest on Saturday.
Bryant went into the team's medical tent on the sidelines after trainers were examining his lower leg. He came out of the tent and remained with teammates on the sideline, but did not go back into the game. Backup Zerrick Cooper took over with the Tigers ahead 21-0.
CLEMSON — There is no doubt about the quarterback for the 2017 Clemson players, but for the fan base, the jury is still out on Kelly Bryant as the starter.
With five-star true freshman Hunter Johnson and redshirt freshman Zerrick Cooper drawing both praise and rebuke from the coaching staff through fall camp, Bryant emerged as the most consistent performer -- winning the job.
But new leaders for the Clemson offense have not always been welcomed with open arms.
Swinney says Bryant likely to open as Clemson quarterback
CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — Clemson coach Dabo Swinney says junior Kelly Bryant will likely start at quarterback in the national champion's season opener against Kent State on Sept. 2.
Bryant has competed with freshmen Zerrick Cooper and Hunter Johnson for the starting spot held by All-American Deshaun Watson the past three seasons.
Clemson football announces depth chart for summer; Bryant still No. 1 QB
CLEMSON — Clemson's football team announced its depth chart for summer camp on Monday, and unsurprisingly, it is highlighted by rising junior quarterback Kelly Bryant, whom Dabo Swinney says will be the starter if Clemson were to play a game right now.
CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — Kelly Bryant will start summer camp as Clemson's starting quarterback and will get the first shot at replacing the Tigers' All-American Deshaun Watson.
Bryant was listed as the starter on the Tigers summer depth chart released on Monday. The 6-foot-3, 213-pound junior has spent the past two seasons as a backup for Watson and Nick Schussler.
Clemson holds live scrimmage, Hunter Johnson takes step forward in quarterback competition
Back from spring break and 10 days away from the annual spring game, it's still the dominant storyline in Clemson’s camp: the quarterback battle. Kelly Bryant, Hunter Johnson, Zerrick Cooper and Tucker Israel are still making their respective cases, while Bryant is still taking the majority of the reps with the first team.
But Wednesday, it was Johnson, the incoming true freshman, who snagged the attention of Clemson coaches and took a step forward in the competition.
Even for contenders, keeping QB pipeline filled is tricky
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) — The competition to replace Deshaun Watson at Clemson next spring will feature Kelly Bryant, who has already put two seasons of eligibility in behind the Tigers' star, along with redshirt freshman Zerrick Cooper and a five-star recruit who is enrolling in college early.
