DOVER, Del. (AP) — Reigning NASCAR champion Joey Logano has won the first stage of the race at Dover International Speedway. It’s Logano’s fifth stage win of the season and came off a relatively clean start to the first Monday race at Dover since 2007. Martin Truex Jr. won the second stage. Truex was the winner of that 2007 race.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump says he is looking into offering a waiver that would allow service academy athletes to play professional sports immediately upon graduation. Trump made the announcement while presenting the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy to the U.S. Military Academy football team during a Rose Garden ceremony. The Defense Department rescinded a policy in 2017 that allowed the best athletes from the military’s service academies to go straight to the pros upon graduation. Under the current framework, athletes have to serve two years of active duty before applying for reserve status to pursue a pro career.

NEW YORK (AP) — With three relievers on the injured list, the New York Mets have made a move to bolster their pitching corps. They’ve obtained right-hander Wilmer Font from the Tampa Bay Rays for a player to be named or cash. The 28-year-old was 1-0 with a 5.79 ERA in 10 appearances, striking out 18 in 14 innings.

BALTIMORE (AP) — David Price will miss his next couple of starts. The Boston Red Sox have placed the left-hander on the 10-day injured list because of tendinitis in his pitching elbow. The 33-year-old Price is 1-2 with a 3.75 ERA in six starts and has allowed three runs or fewer in his last four appearances.

CINCINNATI (AP) — The Reds and Giants are finishing up a four-game series in Cincinnati this afternoon. But they got off to a late start thanks to a bee delay. A swarm of bees settled above the backstop screen shortly before the first pitch. The swarm eventually moved toward the upper deck, allowing the game to begin 18 minutes late. Cincinnati last experienced a bee delay in 1987 at Riverfront stadium.
