Rockets’ Hakeem Olajuwon Injured
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) _ Houston Rockets center Hakeem Olajuwon sustained a pulled right groin in the third quarter of Friday’s night 91-88 overtime loss to the Portland Trail Blazers and did not return.
Olajuwon was hurt when he fouled Blazers center Arvydas Sabonis away from the Portland basket. The injury occurred just 13 seconds into the third period and with the Blazers ahead 49-44.
``I went for the steal, my groin got pulled,″ Olajuwon said. ``This is my first experience with a groin injury. I was told that you get worse in the morning, so I don’t know really how bad.″
Olajuwon will be evaluated on Saturday. It wasn’t immediately known whether he would play at Vancouver on Monday.
Olajuwon, Houston’s second-leading scorer at 15.5 points per game, finished with six points and five rebounds.
