Police investigating deadly motorcycle crash

CRANSTON, R.I. (AP) — Police say they are investigating the events that led to a deadly motorcycle crash in Rhode Island.

Cranston police say a motorcyclist was traveling on Pontiac Avenue late Sunday night when he crossed the double yellow line before hitting the curb and crashing into a fire hydrant.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. He appeared to be a man in his early to mid-30s.

WPRI-TV reports that authorities are waiting to release his name until the family is notified.

Police say no other vehicles were involved in the crash, but the motorcycle barely missed hitting a car.
