YWCA Shooting Suspect Arrested

April 10, 2018

HAZLETON — A teenager wanted in connection to a March 5 shooting outside the Hazleton YWCA was apprehended Monday. Officer Jessica Hutnik spotted Felix Dini inside a BMW and, knowing he was wanted by city detectives, conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of South Church Street around 1:20 p.m., according to police Chief Jerry Speziale. Dini was wanted for aggravated assault and was charged with the violation as an adult after a shooting that occurred outside the Y while a basketball game played inside the gym that night. Multiple Hazleton officers and two officers from West Hazleton — many of which were leaving the scene of a standoff on East Elm Street in Hazleton — responded to the scene to assist Hutnik. Three people were detained and Dini was arrested and brought to Hazleton‘s police station for processing on the warrant. Officers could be found in the area of 332 S. Church St., after the traffic stop was conducted. — AMANDA CHRISTMAN
