TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) _ E.J. Anderson went 3-for-4 with one homer as Virginia beat Princeton 12-2 Friday in the second round of the NCAA South I Regional.

The loss eliminated the Tigers (26-21), who lost to top-seeded Alabama 19-2 in the first round of the double-elimination tournament.

Anderson opened the Cavaliers’ four-run sixth inning with a solo home run. The designated hitter has hit 13 homers this year, nine of which have been on the road.

As in their first-round game against Alabama, the Tigers trailed early. They were down 11-0 before scoring their only runs in the seventh inning. Michael Keck hit a two-run home run with two out after Michael Ciminiello walked.

Pat Bransford and Brian Sherlock each also went 3-for-4 for Virginia (42-20). Bransford drove in three runs. Adam Robinson went 3-for-5 with two RBIs.

Pat Daneker (8-5) earned the win for the Cavaliers, pitching six innings allowing no runs and just three hits.

Chris Yarbrough ((8-2) took the loss after pitching five innings, giving up eight runs and 11 of Virginia’s 18 hits.
