Austin native returns for ArtWorks festival

August 23, 2018

Molly Kate Kestner will return to her hometown to close out Austin ArtWorks on the outdoor stage Sunday.

A last-minute replacement for fellow Austin native and country blues musician Charlie Parr – who injured his shoulder earlier this month – Kestner will bring her own singer-songwriter tunes to the stage.

Since gathering national recognition from her song “Her Daughter” in 2014, she has released a handful of other singles, toured and contributed to Kelly Clarkson’s 2017 album “Meaning of Life.”

Kestner is set to play at 3 p.m. and will be joining NPR’s 2016 Tiny Desk winner Gaelynn Lea, the Austin Symphony Orchestra, R&B soulsters Funktion Junction, Twin Cities-based GLBTA Freedom Jazz, Americana quartet The Tinder Box, Wicked Renegades and Ventura Highway on the lineup.
