3 firefighters hurt battling Berkeley County home fire
MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (AP) — Officials say three firefighters were hurt while battling a home fire in South Carolina.
Berkeley County officials said the firefighters should recover from their injuries.
Authorities said two firefighters were trapped when the front wall of the Moncks Corner home collapsed on them as they fought the fire Monday morning.
The county said in a news release one firefighter broke an ankle and needed surgery, while the second spent several hours in the hospital.
Officials say a third firefighter was treated later for burns.
Authorities say no one was in the home and it took an hour to extinguish the fire. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
