East Idaho man in critical condition following crash involving power pole
RIGBY — A 41-year-old Rigby man is in critical condition following a crash early Tuesday morning.
Idaho State Police say Gerrit Gulden was driving a 2002 Ford Crown Victoria when he struck a power pole in the area of State Highway 48 and North 4000 East in Rigby. Gulden, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported by ground ambulance to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, police said.
Gulden was still at EIRMC on Wednesday and was listed in critical condition, according to hospital officials.
The Idaho Transportation Department closed one and a half miles of State Highway 48 for several hours on Tuesday so that repairs could be made following the crash, police said.
Rocky Mountain Power officials say the incident led to a power outage that affected 437 customers.
