Ex-police officer pleads guilty to civil rights violation
DENVER (AP) — A former police officer in suburban Denver has pleaded guilty in federal court to violating the civil rights of a woman he sexually assaulted as he took her home from a hospital.
The Colorado Sun reports that 42-year-old Curtis Arganbright, who worked for Westminster police, entered the plea on Monday.
He faces up to 10 years in prison when he is sentenced in March.
Federal prosecutors brought the case after Arganbright received a 90-day jail sentence in state court last year for unlawful sexual contact and official misconduct.
Prosecutors say Arganbright was on duty in August 2017 and was driving a woman home from St. Anthony North Health Campus when the assault occurred.
The victim told investigators Arganbright assaulted her while she was handcuffed.
