ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) — Seeking to reverse its struggles, one Atlantic City casino is reversing its name.

The Ocean Resort Casino is now calling itself the Ocean Casino Resort. The change was announced Wednesday to play up the gambling aspect of the resort that was formerly known as Revel.

The property unveiled a new logo to go along with the name change.

“We are making so many positive changes, it was important to us that our name and brand reflect our commitment to property improvements and to delivering an unparalleled gaming experience,” said Mike Donovan, the property’s senior vice president and chief marketing officer. “We have changed the name to Ocean Casino Resort because we are dedicated to putting the casino customer first.”

The casino is in the process of changing ownership after quickly running into financial difficulty last fall, just months after reopening.

New York hedge fund Luxor Capital is assuming ownership from Colorado developer Bruce Deifik, who was killed in a car crash Sunday in Denver while the transaction was pending.

The casino plans to unveil a new web site next month as well.

It opened in 2012 as Revel, and shut down in 2014, one of four Atlantic City casinos to do so that year.

Deifik bought it in January 2018 from Glenn Straub, who had bought Revel out of bankruptcy but never opened it. Ocean resort opened on June 27, but by September was already losing money.

In January 2019 Deifik agreed to hand over his ownership of the casino to Luxor, which had been one of its lenders.
