Nashoba Track Teams Race Past Fitchburg

FITCHBURG -- Led by a pair of individual victories by Alexandra Bettez, the Nashoba Regional girls’ track team ran to a 49-42 victory over host Fitchburg on Wednesday.

Bettez won the mile and 1,000 for the Chieftains, while Fitchburg saw double-winners in Olamide Bamgbose (high jump, 4-6; 55-meter dash, 7.9) and Emerson Scott (55 hurdles, 9.4; 600, 1:52.4). Also placing first for Fitchburg were Elle Scott (300, 46.3) and the 4x220 relay (Olamide Bamgbose, Lainey Jaramillo, Lina Kherallah, Elle Scott). Bamgbose also took second in the shot put (28-4).

Evans Oduro placed first in the 55-meter hurdles (8.1) and in the high jump (5-6) to lead Fitchburg in defeat. Teammate Owen Cosgrove placed second in the 1,000 (3:23.9) and Dylan Araujo took second in the shot put (35 feet).
