Family wants to turn vacant plaza into entertainment hotspot

January 18, 2019

RUTLAND, Vt. (AP) — A Vermont family is hoping to turn a long-vacant plaza into a new entertainment plaza for Rutland residents.

Don Folsom says he hopes to start construction and remodeling on Flory’s Plaza soon. The Rutland Herald reports he and his wife already own Jump Fore Fun after purchasing it in May.

Folsom says he happened to see some buildings being demolished at the plaza earlier this year and after speaking with workers there, was put in touch with the Flory family, who’ve owned it since it was built in the 1970s.

John Flory said Thursday that the Folsoms have signed a three-year lease-to-own agreement. Flory says he’s excited to see what they’ll do with shuttered property.
