Sheriff: Man slain, wife wounded in Virginia home invasion
LOUISA, Va. (AP) — A sheriff’s office in Virginia says it has arrested a suspect accused of shooting an elderly man to death and wounding his wife during a home invasion.
Louisa County sheriff’s officials told news outlets the suspect escaped in a car stolen from the victims on Tuesday. Deputies say a man was found dead at the scene and a woman was flown to a hospital with injuries that weren’t life-threatening.
Sheriff-elect Donnie Lowe said authorities found the suspect hours later, though he declined to identify the individual.
Investigators said the suspect has been charged with driving a stolen vehicle, and more charges could follow related to the home invasion, slaying and wounding. Officials haven’t determined if the victims knew the suspect. They haven’t been identified pending notification of family.
