Reclaim our roads and bridges with tolls
We must reclaim our roads and bridges. Tolls would raise an estimated $800 million per year, of which 40 percent would be paid by “out-of-staters.” The funds raised will be earmarked for transportation improvements only.
Not only will debt service on the bonds, proposed as an alternative funding option, cost $600 million by 2030 but also we will inhibit the ability of the state to issue other necessary bonds for schools and infrastructure projects.
We as citizens of Connecticut must take the responsibility to maintain the high reputation our state enjoys by providing the funding necessary to keep our roads and bridges safe and well maintained.
