Jury convicts Tennessee mom, boyfriend in toddler’s death
LOUDON, Tenn. (AP) — A jury has convicted a Tennessee mother and her boyfriend of murder in the death of her 17-month-old son.
News outlets reported that the Louden County jury returned the verdicts Tuesday against Amanda Beaty and Rodger Dale Prince II in the 2014 death of Levi Beaty in Morgan County. The trial was moved to Louden County after the defendants requested a change of venue.
Deputies responded to the couple’s apartment in Wartburg in 2014 and found the boy unresponsive. According to authorities, the couple said the boy choked on a cookie. An autopsy later determined he died from multiple blunt-force trauma injuries, including a spinal fracture.
Criminal Court Judge Jeff Wicks sentenced both defendants to mandatory life sentences.
