Man in critical condition after 2-vehicle crash on Anthony Boulevard
One man was in critical condition Friday after a crash on Anthony Boulevard north of Wayne Trace.
Officers were called to the area near the railroad tracks at 5:15 p.m. in reference to a traffic accident with injuries. They were told one vehicle was on its side and the driver was trapped inside, according to a news release.
Once at the scene, officers found the two vehicles involved in the crash. Fort Wayne Fire Department crews and paramedics worked to remove the victim from the vehicle. That driver was taken to a local hospital in serious condition but later downgraded to critical. The driver of the other vehicle was not hurt.
The victim had been traveling north on Anthony Boulevard and crossed the center line, striking the other vehicle, which was heading south. Investigators said alcohol or drugs were not factors in the crash, according to the news release.
Anthony Boulevard was closed from Hayden Avenue to Wayne Trace in both directions, and trains were diverted from the area until the scene was cleared at 7:45 p.m.
The crash remains under investigation.
