COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho 11th grade students scored slightly lower on a college readiness test on average this year than they did last year.

The Coeur d’Alene Press reported Tuesday that the SAT results released by the state Department of Education show the average reading score was 496 and the average math score was 480, totaling 976 out of a possible 1,600.

The average scores last year were 502 for reading and 486 for math.

The Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy had the highest average score in the state with 1,279. Its students averaged 628 in reading and 651 in math.

Superintendent of Public Instruction Sherri Ybarra says the SAT is only one indicator of college readiness and does not tell students’ full stories.
