School District 25 Parent Advisory Committee to host Contest Powwow

POCATELLO – The District #25 Parent Advisory Committee will host the Pocatello/Chubbuck School District 25 Contest Powwow on Saturday, May 12 at Hawthorne Middle School from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., with a light dinner served at 5 p.m.

The powwow is a free, family-friendly event that features grand entries at 6 p.m. Dance categories are adult dance challenge and special 18. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and consolation winners, sponsored by Layla Buckskin and family. The event will be emceed by Michael Mendez of Shoshone-Bannock Resort and Casino and Antonio Blackhawk, a Highland High School student. The head man dancer will be performed by Rendell Pokibro, a Highland High School student, and the head lady dancer will be performed by Layla Buckskin, a student at Hawthorne Middle School. The event is alcohol and drug free.

The event is sponsored by Highland Indian Club, Hawthorne Indian Club, Pocatello Indian Club, New Horizons Indian Club, Shoshone-Bannock Agri-Business Corporation, District 25 Parent Advisory Committee and 477 Human Services Program. Hawthorne Middle School is located in Pocatello at 1025 W. Eldredge Rd.
