Greg Collins Named Man Of The Year By W-B Friendly Sons Of St. Patrick

The Greater Wilkes-Barre Friendly Sons of St. Patrick announced this year’s Man of the Year is Greg Collins, retired senior vice president and area president of Wells Fargo Bank. Collins, a native of Kingston and graduate of West Side Central Catholic High School, began his banking career with Wyoming National Bank 40 years ago and continued serving its successor banks, progressively advancing to senior leadership roles. He attended evening classes at Misericordia University, majoring in Business Administration. He guided a team of 350 and supported local community initiatives in Carbon, Luzerne, Lackawanna, Pike, Monroe, Schuylkill, Wyoming and Wayne counties. Collins assumed his area president’s role in 2009. There were 37 bank branches in his Northeastern Pennsylvania division. He serves on a number of boards, including Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Business and Industry, Leadership Wilkes-Barre, United Way of Wyoming Valley, Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, Misericordia University’s Board of Trustees and Wilkes-Barre YMCA Board of Trustees. He is active with the American Heart Association and chaired its gala for two years. He continues to serve on its Executive Leadership Committee during the annual campaign. Collins chaired the Northeastern Council Boy Scouts of America’s Distinguished Citizens Award dinner for four years. He also was a co-chairman of the 2016 Wyoming Valley United Way campaign. He has received numerous awards. The Greater Wilkes-Barre Friendly Sons of St. Patrick 73rd annual dinner will be held March 16 at Best Western Plus Genetti Hotel and Conference Center in Wilkes-Barre.
