County offices plan relocation
Cameron County offices will begin moving into the old Wells Fargo building on East Levee Street within a month.
The county clerk’s office will relocate on Oct. 1, and the tax office will move in on Nov. 1.
The reason for the delay with the tax office is because October is one of its busiest months, County Judge Eddie Treviño Jr. said.
“About 50 percent of their mailings come in October,” he said.
The announcement was made at Tuesday’s Cameron County Commissioners Court meeting.
The county also agreed to enter an interlocal agreement with the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley to promote the school’s area health education centers program.
UTRGV has received a five-year grant to open area health education centers in Cameron, Hidalgo and Starr counties. The CameronCounty center would be at the Bob Clark Social Service Center at South Browne Ave. and California Road. UTRGV expects it to be online on Sept. 1, 2018.
