Franklin Board OKs Investments

The Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Northeastern Pennsylvania’s board of directors approved investments in two Luzerne County companies. TierraNOVA LLC, Wilkes-Barre, which produces a safety software application, received $35,000. The company’s app, “Am I Safe,” utilizes crime data to assess safety levels in specific locations. Medico Industries, Plains Twp., received $25,000 to adapt a newly developed hybrid manufacturing process to reduce costs. The company produces metal parts for the U.S. Department of Defense, oil and gas drilling companies, the automotive industry and other customers. In all, Ben Franklin’s board approved the investment of $552,215 to support regional economic development. — DENISE ALLABAUGH
