Pair of Rocky Mountain College soccer players recognized by Cascade Collegiate Conference
PORTLAND, Ore. — Two Rocky Mountain College soccer players were honored Monday as a Cascade Collegiate Conference Red Lion player of the week.
The men’s soccer offensive player of the week was the Battlin’ Bears’ Alexander Taylor. Taylor, a sophomore from Henderson, Nev., recorded a goal and an assist in the two games over the weekend. He scored the go-ahead goal in a 2-1 victory over Southern Oregon Saturday to clinch a share of the Cascade Conference championship and automatic berth to NAIA National Tournament for RMC. Rocky will defend its CCC tournament title Nov. 4-7 in Springfield, Ore.
The women’s soccer defensive player of the week was Rocky’s Lia Unterholzner. Unterholzner, a senior from Manteca, Calif., recorded five saves in upset win over Southern Oregon University Saturday. The RMC women are the No. 6 seed for the CCC Championships and will play No. 3 Corban University at 2 p.m. Friday.
