Coroner IDs pedestrian hit by car
The death of a pedestrian who was struck by a car near Southgate Plaza was ruled an accident Monday, the Allen County coroner’s office said.
Richard M. Papazian, 65, of Fort Wayne, died from multiple blunt force injuries due to the collision Sunday night in the 200 block of East Pettit Avenue near Calhoun Street, according to the coroner.
His death is the fifth motor vehicle-related fatality in Allen County this year.
Papazian was one of three people who died in traffic-related emergencies Sunday.
A fiery, two-car crash killed a woman and male juvenile shortly after 5 p.m. on Stellhorn Road. Police have said icy conditions contributed to the collision.
The coroner was working to identify the pair, who were in the same car, through dental records.
The driver of the other vehicle complained of chest pains and was in fair condition, police have said.
