DEKALB – A DeKalb woman who was critically injured after she was hit by a car Wednesday, DeKalb Police officials said on Thursday.
Danielle Watterson, 25 of DeKalb, was crossing a crosswalk at the intersection of Augusta Avenue and Linden Place around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday when she was hit by a 2017 Chevy Cruise, driven by Courtney Harms, 43, of Somonauk, police said.
Police Cmdr. Steve Lekkas said Watterson was crossing Augusta when she was hit by the vehicle driven by Harms, who was westbound on Augusta.
“The driver stayed on scene,” Lekkas said. “Both were taken to Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital [by the DeKalb Fire Department].”
Watterson was later transferred to OSF St. Anthony’s Hospital in Rockford, where she was in critical condition Thursday evening, Lekkas said.
Harms did not have any injuries and was taken to the hospital only as a part of the investigation, which is still ongoing, he said.
“The pedestrian had serious injuries,” Lekkas said.
Harms was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
