Spurs to face Jazz without Ginobili
SALT LAKE CITY — - The Spurs will be without guard Manu Ginobili when they face the Jazz on Thursday night, according to the team’s injury report.
The 40-year-old Ginobili has been given the night off since the game is the second of a back-to-back.
Guard Danny Green (tightness in his left groin) and center Pau Gasol (tightness, right groin) are questionable.
Green left Wednesday night’s 93-91 win over Portland with 4:30 left in the game in obvious discomfort and never returned. It was his first game back after missing the previous two because of the injured groin, which he sustained against on Dec. 8 against Boston.
Green finished with eight points and four rebounds in 24 minutes against the Trail Blazers.
Other than complaining about taking an elbow to the back of his head, Gasol seemed fine after recording 20 points, 17 rebounds and five assists against Portland in 33 minutes.
Ginobili had 10 points in 26 minutes against the Blazers.
Kawhi Leonard and Tony Parker are expected to return Thursday night after sitting out the Portland game because the medical staff recommended they get two days of rest after playing in Monday’s win over the Clippers. Leonard and Parker missed the first 27 and 19 games, respectively, while rehabbing quad injuries.
