Kingman Academy beats River Valley 230-312
FORT MOHAVE — The Kingman Academy Tigers led the individual leaderboard, as all five of their golfers placed in the top five en route to their 230-312 victory over the River Valley High School Dust Devils at the Huukan Golf Club on Tuesday.
Jake Scott shot an even-par 36 on the nine-hole course to place first, and he was followed by four of his Tiger teammates: Ethan Fancher, 44; Lance Stutzman, 49; Amando Villeso, 50; and Ashlee Steed, 51.
Dust Devils sophomore Bryant Booze, River Valley’s No. 1 golfer, topped all of his teammates by placing sixth at 53.
Booze competed for the Dust Devils as a freshman last season, and he said 48 was his best score.
It was the Dust Devils’ first match of the season, and they practiced on the Huukan course for the first time Monday in preparation for their opening match.
River Valley’s John Anthony-Synder placed seventh at 57 and he was followed by teammates: seventh-place Cody Hughes, 65; eighth-place Trevor Walker, 68; and ninth-place Robert Raymonds, 69.
Walker, who is a first-time golfer this season, said he shot a 63 at Huukan on Monday.
When asked if 63 was a good score for a first-timer, he said, “Yes.”
Booze said he shot a 59 at Huukan during Monday’s practice round.
Said River Valley head coach Dan Powell about Booze, “For not seeing the course, being a first-time match, it’s a good score to start with.”
