Ironton woman sent to prison for growing pot

IRONTON - An Ironton woman was sentenced Thursday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court to three years in prison on a charge of illegal cultivation of marijuana.

Michelle N. Boothe, 39, of the 1400 block of South 6th Street, could be released after serving three months in prison to the STAR Community Justice Center in Franklin Furnace, Ohio. The program there can take up to six months to complete.

A misdemeanor charge of endangering children was dismissed as part of a plea agreement. The illegal cultivation of marijuana charge also was reduced from a felony 2 to a felony 3 prior to sentencing by Judge Christen Finley.


In an unrelated case, Keith Meadows, 22, of Detroit, pleaded innocent to four counts of aggravated trafficking in heroin. Bond was set at $50,000 plus an ankle monitor.
