December 9, 2017 GMT

The Touchdown Club of Richmond will honor Hank Norton, the longtime Ferrum football coach, at this year’s Dudley banquet.

Norton, who coached from 1960 to 1993, will be given the Ray Tate Memorial Award.

Norton coached Ferrum to junior college national titles in 1965, 1968, 1974 and 1977, along with four NCAA playoff berths in the 1980s.

The Ray Tate Memorial Award is presented to a person in Virginia who has made significant contributions and provided exceptional leadership in college football. The award is named for the late Ray Tate, who spent over 50 years affiliated with football, many of them at the college level.

Tickets for the Dudley and Lanier awards banquet are $45 each and may be purchased by emailing tdclubofrichmond@verizon.net, and by contacting Rich Gudewicz at gudric@msn.com or (804) 672-3258.
