Police: Man provided alcohol before fatal snowmobile crash

November 18, 2017

PLYMOUTH, Vt. (AP) — The owner of a snowmobile rental company faces criminal charges after Vermont State Police said he supplied alcohol to an underage employee who died in a snowmobile crash last winter.

Michael Lynds of Plymouth is charged with enabling consumption by a minor, causing death or serious injury.

Police said 20-year-old Stephen Titus of Reading died in March 2017 after he left his job at Snowmobile Vermont in Plymouth.

Police said Titus was under the influence of alcohol when he crashed his snowmobile. He was found dead the next morning.

Lynds, who’s 50, didn’t immediately return a message left at his home on Saturday. He’s due in court on Jan. 9.
