Bluefish manage just 5 hits in loss

BRIDGEPORT — Four York pitchers held Bridgeport to just five hits in a 4-1 victory Thursday night at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard.

Starter Jay Gause (3-0) earned the win, allowing three hits and one earned run with seven strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings. Chase Huchingson finished out the seventh, Ricardo Gomez gave up one hit in a scoreless eighth and Brad Allen earned his ninth save of the season after throwing a hitless ninth.

Ozney Guillen walked to lead off the third inning for the Bluefish and scored the team’s only run on a double play to give Bridgeport a 1-0 lead. Rainy Lara (7-4) took the loss, allowing three earned runs on five hits with seven strikeouts in six innings.

Chase Simpson had two hits, including a solo home run, and Michael Burgess went 2-for-4 with one RBI to lead the Revolution’s offense.

The Bluefish open a three-game series at home against the New Britain Bees tonight at 7:12.
