Majority of Americans want Mueller report public: CNN poll

February 7, 2019 GMT

Nearly nine in 10 Americans say special counsel Robert Mueller’s eventual findings should be made public, according to a new CNN poll released Thursday.

The poll found that 87 percent of respondents, including a large percentage of both parties, want to see a full report at the conclusion of the probe. Only 9 percent opposed a public report and the remaining 4 percent were undecided.

Support for a public release stands at 80 percent among Republicans who say they approve of the way President Trump is handling his job and 92 percent among Democrats who say they don’t approve of how the president is doing his job. Among independents, 88 percent said the report should be released.

Those numbers are up slightly from last year. A similar CNN poll in 2018 found 84 percent wanted the report public.

Among respondents to the poll, 48 percent say they believe Mr. Trump or his campaign colluded with Russia during the 2016 election, including 87 percent of Democrats. Meanwhile, 88 percent of Republicans say the Trump campaign did not collude with Russia.
