Needtobreathe takes home two trophies from 48th annual GMA Dove Awards
Needtobreathe, a Charleston-based band, took home two awards at this year’s Dove Awards, which are given to outstanding talent in the Christian music category.
The Gospel Music Association held its 48th annual awards show Tuesday in Nashville, Tennessee, and featured 34 category winners.
Needtobreathe took home an award for Rock/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year for song “Hard Love.” The band also snagged Rock/Contemporary Album of the Year for the full disc “Hard Love,” which was released in July on Atlantic Records.
Among other Christian artists who received 2017 Dove Awards are MercyMe, Hillsong United, Reba McEntire, Amy Grant and Kirk Franklin.
The Gaither Vocal Band, who are presenting a Christmas spectacular at the North Charleston Coliseum on Dec. 1, also received awards for Southern Gospel Recorded Song of the Year for “Better Together” and Southern Gospel Artist of the Year.
