Arrests made in Wabash County shooting
MOUNT CARMEL — Authorities confirm several arrests have been made in connection to a late Thursday night shooting at 120 E. Hackberry St. in Bellmont.
Levi M.R. Glick, 31, of Mount Carmel, is charged with attempted murder, home invasion, possession of a firearm by a felon, aggravated battery with a firearm and unlawful discharge of a firearm. He is held in the Wabash County Jail on $10,000 cash bond.
Christopher A. Shaffer, 33, of Robinson, is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful discharge of a firearm, obstruction of justice and possession of methamphetamine. Shaffer is held on $10,000 cash bond.
“Following the investigation it was learned that Levi M.R. Glick came to the residence to speak to an occupant of that residence,” Wabash County Sheriff Derek Morgan reported Monday. “There was an argument that ensued over what was reported to be money and a firearm was displayed. During that argument it was reported that Glick sustained a gunshot wound to the thigh and Carlie J. Rule 35, of Olney sustained a gunshot to the foot. Multiple 911 calls came in as the Wabash County Sheriff’s Office and Illinois State Police Troopers organized their approach to the residence. The K9 Roy led deputies to the location of a firearm that had been discarded along the railroad tracks in Bellmont.”
Rule was arrested on an outstanding warrant from Jasper County and later posted $250 cash bond.
Emily J. Lofton, 29, of Bellmont was charged with possession of methamphetamine and bond has been set at $4,000 cash. Glick, Lofton and Shaffer are all being held at the Wabash County Jail are scheduled for first appearance in Wabash Circuit Court Monday afternoon.
Wabash County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit, Illinois State Police Troopers, Bellmont Fire Department, Wabash General Ambulance Service and the Gibson County Ambulance Service.
