FOXBORO -- The Patriots were without three players as they resumed practice during the bye week on Wednesday.

Safety Devin McCourty, tight end Dwayne Allen, and fullback James Develin were all absent.

McCourty suffered a concussion early in the third quarter of the Patriots’ Week 17 win over the New York Jets. He did not return.

It’s the second concussion of McCourty’s professional career.

Allen played 26 offensive snaps versus the Jets and did not appear to suffer an injury. He’s dealt with a knee issue dating back to the Week 10 loss to the Titans, however.

The injury caused Allen to miss games from Weeks 12-14. It’s unclear if Allen suffered a setback on Sunday.

According to his Instagram, Develin’s wife is in labor with their third child.

Because the Patriots are on a bye, they are not required to submit injury reports this week.
