Emergency dispatch 911 system restored after outage

February 16, 2019

Allen County’s 911 emergency dispatch service went down for about an hour Friday evening, but was soon restored.

Service was compromised at 7:07 p.m. with technical difficulties that affected IN911 call routing services, according to Mark Bieker, public information officer for the Fort Wayne Police Department.

The system was restored to full function at 7:58 p.m., Bieker said. Residents were notified by local and social media.

Multiple test calls were made throughout the state to ensure that IN911 was working as expected. Ongoing troubleshooting to identify the cause of the incident will be conducted, the release said.

During the affected time period, residents were asked to make emergency phone calls to 260-449-3000. The outage affected multiple counties in the state.
