Grants available to educators
Erica Herkel-Ritsema, Limestone Middle School teacher, was awarded the Upsilon Chapter of Illinois (Lambda State) of DKG Society International grant from Lambda State Foundation. The grant will fund the prizes for the project “2019 Poetry Slam -- Speak Your Truth.”
Students become involved in four writing workshops in four weeks during the school day. Their written and performance submissions are shared at an evening event at Limestone Middle School gymnasium, and students are awarded prizes for their efforts.
The Lambda State Foundation for Educational Studies awards stipends to chapters and individuals who are members of the society. Its mission is to support projects related to the improvement of education in Illinois. Applications can be found on the state website, deltakappagamma.org.
