Congressional border caucus members coming to Valley next week

Members of the Congressional Border Caucus are scheduled to visit the Rio Grande Valley next week to meet with community members and local officials to discuss border enforcement, immigration and trade, according to a news release.

Congressman Filemon Vela (D-Brownsville) and Vicente Gonzalez (D-McAllen) will host an immigration roundtable Monday afternoon at La Union Del Pueble Entero in San Juan. Also attending the event will be representatives and democrats, Joe Crowley (NY-14), Rosa DeLauro (CT-3), Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-40), and former secretary of U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Julian Castro.

On Wednesday members of the Congressional Border Caucus will hold the second hearing in the Border Business is America’s Business series at the Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council. Local and national stakeholders are scheduled to discuss commerce, economic growth and competitiveness along the border, according to the release.
