Aiken woman charged with unlawful neglect toward a child
An Aiken woman has been charged after police say she drove intoxicated with a juvenile in the car.
Emily Green, 38, of Kemper Downs Drive, is charged with unlawful conduct toward a child, according to jail records.
The Aiken Department of Public Safety says police responded to Kemper Downs Drive around 10 a.m. Monday after receiving a 911 phone call from a 16-year-old teenager, who said Green was driving intoxicated while a 9-year-old boy was in the car.
When police arrived to the home, they found Green’s car in the garage and the garage door closing, police reported.
The teenager told police Green had been drinking wine since she returned home from work, and was “very intoxicated” when she drove to pick up the boy, police reported.
The boy told police Green attempted to turn the car around at one point and almost struck a curb, the report said.
Police reported Green failed to maintain her balance, and had to be instructed to sit so she would not fall. Green admitted to police she drank before picking up the boy from another house, police reported.
Green was taken to the Aiken County detention center, and was released Tuesday on a $3,000 bond, according to jail officials.
