Digging the first day of playground build
HAMLIN TWP. — Attitudes were as bright and sunny as the weather Monday as construction began in earnest on the new playground at the Hamlin Lake beach of Ludington State Park.
Volunteers from Friends of Ludington State Park (FLSP), Habitat for Humanity of Mason County, Lowe’s and the community, as well as staff from the state park and Sinclair Recreation, which is overseeing the community build, dug 110 holes, and started assembling and erecting the play structures.
The playground will have two playscapes — one for ages 2 to 5 and one for ages 5 to 12 — and will feature far more than standard accessibility features required by the American with Disabilities Act.
