Bobcat euthanized by Montana wildlife managers
BUTTE, Mont. (AP) — Montana wildlife managers have euthanized a bobcat caught in Butte because it was in such poor physical condition that it could not survive if released into the wild.
Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks Game Warden Regan Dean tells The Montana Standard that euthanizing the animal was the humane thing to do.
The female bobcat was caught Monday evening and euthanized on Tuesday.
Wildlife veterinary technician Keri Carson says the bobcat was emaciated beyond the point of being able to survive.
Carson said the bobcat was one of a number of animals that have had a hard time surviving the harsh and snowy winter.
She suspects the bobcat came into Butte in an attempt to “eke out a living” but was unable to get enough nutrition.
