David Pastore of Greenwich completed an impressive week on the Minor League Golf Tour by winning the tour’s eighth Match Play Championship on Wednesday at Wellington (Fla.) National Golf Club.

In just his sixth MLGT start over the past 31/2 years, Pastore a 2010 Greenwich High School graduate, led qualifiers Monday with a 5-under-par 67, then won two matches on both Tuesday and Wednesday. He beat Oscar Fraustro of Mexico City in the final with a 4-foot birdie putt on the second extra hole (20th hole) for the title.

The win was worth $2,500 from the tournament’s $13,780 purse.

In the final, Fraustro led by one hole after the front nine, before Pastore won the 12th and 14th holes. They halved the 16th and 17th holes with birdies and Fraustro birdied the 18th on an 8-footer, moments after Pastore saved par by holing his fourth shot from off the green. In the extra holes, they halved the first hole with par-4s and Pastore made his short birdie putt on the second hole for the victory.

There were 43 entries for Monday’s qualifying round which trimmed the field to 16 for match play.
