Cornell 35, Columbia 14

ITHACA, N.Y. (AP) _ Tailback Chad Levitt ran for a pair of touchdowns and quarterback Steve Joyce threw for two more to lead Cornell to a 35-14 win over Columbia Saturday and a tie for first place in the Ivy League.

Levitt started things off with a 36-yard touchdown run on Cornell’s first play from scrimmage after a 2-yard punt by Columbia’s Kevin Conley.

Levitt added a 7-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter and finished the game with 170 yards on 33 carries.

Columbia quarterback Matt Lenzen threw a 1-yard touchdown pass to tight end Ryan Gabriele midway through the second quarter, but Joe Aldrich missed the extra-point kick.

Cornell (6-3-0 overall, 5-1-0 Ivy League) came back with a 41-yard touchdown pass from Joyce to Ron Mateo with 28 seconds left in the half. Columbia’s Bobby Thompson scored on a 57-yard quarterback draw play early in the fourth quarter.

Running back Deon Harris added a 1-yard touchdown run for Cornell in the final minute.

Columbia fell to 3-5-1 overall, 3-3-0 in the conference.
