Gold Star Memorial Trail work continues
MAYVILLE—Much progress has been made in the construction of the first phase of the Gold Star Memorial Trail over the past several weeks.
Approximately half of the first phase is now paved. Construction crews will be working out of the area and will return in about three weeks to finish the job.
The contractor estimates it will take three to four weeks of work to complete this phase.
Once the inspections of the final work are complete the county parks department will open the trail for public use sometime near the end of October.
The GSMT committee is currently planning the grand opening aand dedication for June 1, 2019.
The planned GSMT bike route (and other bikes routes) through the city of Horicon are anticipated to be presented to the city of Horicon for consideration later this month. Construction work on Lake Street or Hwy E in Horicon that includes a bike trail continues to make progress.
It is anticipated that design work will begin soon for the Beaver Dam phase of the trail and should be done by January.
