Letter: Camillo grateful

April 13, 2018 GMT

I would like to thank all of the Greenwich residents who donated to my third annual sports equipment drive. As with the previous two years, the equipment was dropped off to the Greenwich Boys & Girls Club, so any child who wants to play a particular sport, but who may not have the funds to afford the gear, can do so.

I also would like to thank the Cos Cob Library and Greenwich Town Hall for allowing the donation boxes to be stored there. The drive would not be as successful as it is every year without their assistance and kindness.

The drive is held during baseball’s spring training and ends on Opening Day. While the baseball theme is there, equipment that is used for all sports has been collected.

The Greenwich Boys & Girls Club is one of Greenwich’s treasures. As an old “club kid,” I know that the lessons learned there as well as the memories attained will last a lifetime. Bobby Walker, Don Palmer, and the rest of the wonderful staff as well as the terrific board members are providing the experiences that every club member benefits from and hopefully each one will remember when it is their turn to give back.

The looks of appreciation on the faces of the young recipients made me realize, once again, what a special place our town is.

Thanks again, Greenwich!
