Madison netters take third at BNL Invite.
Madison’s boys tennis team dropped a 5-0 loss to Bedford North Lawrence but then beat Borden 4-1 to finish third in the Bedford North Lawrence Tournament on Saturday. The Cubs won 20 games in the 5-0 loss to Bedford - including extending the No. 2 singles match to a third-set tie-breaker - before bouncing back in the consolation round against Borden to finish just a third-set tie-breaker short of sweeping the Braves. Rebels’ Wynn runner-up
Southwestern boys tennis finished third in Saturday’s Musketeer Invitational at Eastern (Pekin) and No. 1 singles player Skyler Wynn Advanced to the championship match. Henryville dominated the event to double up runner-up Eastern 18-9 while Southwestern edged Lanesville 5-3 for third place. The Hornet advanced to the finals in all 5 matches including Trevor Badger’s 6-0, 6-0 win over Southwestern’s Wynn. Southwestern and Eastern both played without one position Saturday. The tourney was the season opener for all four teams. Southwestern hosts Trinity Lutheran Thursday.
