Construction on Coldwater Road turn lanes to begin
Added turn lanes will cause lane restrictions and lane shifts at an intersection on Fort Wayne’s north side, the Indiana Department of Transportation said today.
Beginning Monday, construction for three new turn lanes at Indiana 930/Coliseum Boulevard to Coldwater Road is set to begin, weather permitting, the transportation department said in a statement.
All eastbound and westbound lanes of Indiana 930/Coliseum Boulevard will be maintained during construction on the northeast, southwest and southeast corners of the intersection, INDOT said. Drivers on Coldwater Road will be shifted to the right and the left turn lane will be closed.
Later in the summer, drivers going west on Indiana 930/Coliseum Boulevard will be shifted to the north side, or right lanes of the road, and drivers going east will be shifted to the south side, or left lane of the road, INDOT said.
The project, when completed in the late fall, is expected to reduce congestion at the intersection during peak hours, it said.
When finished, the three lanes will have a new right turn lane from westbound Indiana 930/Coliseum Boulevard to northbound Coldwater Road; an added left turn lane from westbound Indiana 930/Coliseum Boulevard to southbound Coldwater Road; and an added left turn lane from eastbound Indiana 930/Coliseum Boulevard to northbound Coldwater Road.
