West Haven man charged in fatal Monroe crash
MONROE—A West Haven man has been charged in the July 16 accident that killed a motorcyclist and seriously injured his wife.
Louis Maiorino, 58, was the man behind the wheel of the passenger car that “for some unknown reason his vehicle crossed the double yellow center line,” Monroe police said in a statement Friday.
Monroe and West Haven police arrested Maiorino at his home Thursday with a warrant following a months-long investigation by Monroe’s Serious Accident Reconstruction Team.
Motorcycle driver Daniel Falls died from his injuries on August 24, 2017. Falls, a New Milford resident, was 64 at the time of his death, according to an obituary.
He was survived by his wife, Betty Falls, who was his passenger during the crash. She suffered serious injuries.
Maiorino and two passengers in his Hyundai Sonata were treated for minor injuries, police said.
Maiorino was charged with failure to drive in the proper lane and second-degree assault. He was released on $100,000 bond and is scheduled to face a judge at Bridgeport Superior Court on December 15.
