Clarks Summit Mulls Tax Decrease For 2019
CLARKS SUMMIT — The borough’s tentative budget for 2019 includes a tax decrease for residents.
Council members will discuss the budget at a special meeting tonight. The new budget features a two mill decrease from the borough’s debt service fund, which will make the total municipal tax rate for borough residents 31.5 mills for next year, borough manager Virginia Kehoe said.
A house assessed at $18,000, the median residential assessment in the borough according to 2014 county assessor’s office information, will carry a municipal real estate tax bill of $567. The tax decrease will save a resident with a home assessed at that figure $36 annually.
